Hemant Lagvankar worked with Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR as a Resource Person and Editor on the project, called 'Mahadnyan', the Open Education Resources for Schools (OER4S) of Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission, Government of Maharashtra from 2009 to 2011. In 2011, he worked as a course writer for Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), the largest institute in the world for open schooling.
Curriculum Development Committee, Government of Maharashtra
Worked as a member of Maharashtra State Curriculum Development Committee for Primary Education. The committee was constituted in 2012. The committee designed the curricula for standard 6, 7 and 8.
Co-authored Science Teachers’ Handbook in Marathi and English language for secondary science teachers published by Education Department of Maharashtra State under RMSA in 2014.
Oppointed as Member of Board of Studies of School Education, State Government Maharashtra in 2016.
Association with Consulate General of Israel, Mumbai
Consulate General of Israel, Mumbai along with the Department of School Education and Sports, Government of Maharashtra and Observer Research Foundation, Mumbai organised a two days workshop on Education for Innovation and Innovation in Education on June 18-19, 2014 at Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune. The theme of the workshop was how to nurture creativity, innovation, collaboration, project-based and constructive learning in children.
Along with three experts, Dr Shahaf Gal, Dov Kipperman, Ojas Waldman from Israel, Hemant Lagvankar conducted two sessions on Activity Based Science Learning during the workshop.
National Children Science Congress is the flagship program of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. It aims at spreading the concept of the method of science among the children with their project activities adopting the process of learning through doing. The program is being run since 1993.
Since year 2000, Hemant Lagvankar is working as a Member of Evaluators Panel and Resource Person of National Children Science Congress organized by National Council of Science and Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi.He took special efforts in making evaluation process of National Children Science Congress transparent and more effective. He has co-authored the guide book in Marathi on the theme Soil Resources in the year 2010-11 and till date conducted 24 Teachers’ Training Workshops on Science Project Methodology for National Children Science Congress.
Hemant Lagvankar participated as an expert in India International Science Festival organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India in association with Vijnana Bharati to inspire curiosity and make learning more rewarding. A set of charts based on the syllabus of 6th to 8th grade, and 9th - 10th grade are developed by Hemant Lagvankar. These charts consist of compilation of laws, definitions, formulae, and equations. The information about various scientists, explanation of different concepts, and lists of activities and projects are also given. These charts are useful for revising school syllabus and for various competative exams.
